Hospitality Unmatched, Lives and Livelihoods Shared, Travel on the Road and Off, stories and reminiscence began.

I enjoyed week after week. It was not the end of the road. It was not the completion of the journey. But I had reached.

On my first day in the Gila Valley we met Junior for lunch at El Charro. Junior is still my favorite conversationalist. Junior was completing training as a driver and beginning driving in the huge trucks in Safford mine. It will be linked to the San Jose Mine and to Morenci mine. It will be the largest copper mine in the world.

From the restaurant we meandered through the Walmart. Junior analyzed the product placement and why the store was often moving products around the store, because if the customer had to search for them they would sometimes bump into or simply see other products that are spontaneously place in the cart. Other observations are common knowledge such as the diminishing number of clerk operated registers verses the self check out. Old people frequent the clerk registers. Kids skip through the self checkouts.

After shopping it was mine and Junior’s task to examine the contents of the boxes on the second shelf marked “Stan” in the garage. When Mom’s house was emptied the unclaimed or designated items became stored in Faith’s and Jim’s garage. The boxes of tools were really mostly Mom’s. They became mine because I used them on my biannual visits for maintenance and repairs. The boxes of books were from college correctly mine. If they were in Rhode Island they would have been shelved in my house. But I wasn’t taking them there to shelve. Faith was right to pair Junior and I for the task because she observed that he was the family member most interested in the artifacts of our ancestry. Stan’s shelf is empty. The third shelf still holds boxes labeled “Cherilyn”. Faith still has two boxes labeled “Stan” to discard.

Saturday Philana was off so we went to Globe.
